Archive post from February 2021:

I’ve managed a second place in the South Pacific Climate Change Photographer of the Year Competition. I entered two images, both of which became finalists and were exhibited at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Fiji.

Annoyingly, a journalist with an astonishingly good idea for shooting an image ALSO decided to enter the marine category, so I played second fiddle to him but his was a worthy winner so I can’t grumble, much.

Jay won the land category with a very moving image of a Fijian village that had been flooded, shot from an aerial view, so congratulations goes out to my very talented wife!

Here are my successful images:

This Mangrove shot was not only a finalist but was also used as their main promo image, including the banner outside the exhibition!

And this image of a slightly sad sea star earned a worthy runner up spot on the podium:

Hot Panic
a blue sea star clambers onto the remains of what was once probably extremely slow growing and resilient brain coral.
