Stephen Frink has awarded my image of the USAT Liberty Wreck in Bali a third place in amongst some excellent images taken by accomplished photographers of the British Society of Underwater Photographers (BSoUP).

His feedback on my image is as follows:

“This is another image that succeeds because of an artful blend of strobe and ambient light.  The strobes illuminate the red encrusting sponge on the interior of the wreck and the fish on the right-hand side of the frame, while the ambient light outside the ship lights the diver.  It could have been an accident the diver was swimming by, and if so well done for capturing a frozen moment in time.  I think it more likely the photographer and the model were working in collaboration, in which case the model deserves a great deal of credit as well for appearing so poised in the background”.
